Immersion Retreat I
October 24 - 30, 2011
For the power of peace to touch every person, community and nation on this earth, it must radiate out from a profound peace within our own minds. The Bodhisattva Peace Training, developed by Tibetan meditation master H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, makes accessible to people of all religions and walks of life the profound methods of the Mahayana Buddhist tradition for awakening the positive qualities of wisdom and compassion—the basis of enduring peace—inherent in each of us.
Lama Shenpen Drolma was ordained as a lama in 1996 by her teacher, Tibetan meditation master H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, and is resident lama at Iron Knot Ranch in New Mexico where she established the Bodhisattva Peace Training Institute for Bodhisattva Peace Training. She has taught the Bodhisattva Peace Training widely since 1991.

Immersion Retreat I
Iron Knot Ranch, Grant County, New Mexico
October 24th – 30th, 2011
Following the Bodhisattva Peace Training, Lama Shenpen will offer an “Immersion Retreat” for the ongoing study and practice of bodhicitta, the awakened heart/mind. This retreat is open to anyone who has attended a Bodhisattva Peace Training and is sincerely interested in deepening their practice of bodhicitta.
Immersion Retreat I is the first in a series of eight Immersion Retreats offered by Lama Shenpen as a part of the curriculum of the Bodhisattva Peace Training Institute. The Immersion Retreats focus on the study and practice of bodhicitta, emphasizing contemplations and meditations that are indispensible to integrating these teachings and experiencing transformation. As with the Bodhisattva Peace Training, Immersion Retreat I includes training in meditation practices introduced in Change of Heart: The Bodhisattva Peace Training of Chagdud Tulku. It also includes daily discussion and meditation-in-activity sessions designed to help integrate the teachings into daily life.
Immersion Retreats I and II, offered at Iron Knot Ranch prior to 2010, have been reformulated. Thosewho attended Immersion Retreats I or II in 2009 or earlier are asked to repeat them before continuing with further Immersion Training.

Bodhisattva Peace Training Institute
Immersion Retreats I and II serve as prerequisites for those aspiring to become certified as Facilitators of Peace Leadership, a certification program that qualifies participants to bring the basic principles of bodhicitta into their lives and communities. With continued study and practice, certified Facilitators of Peace Leadership may then qualfiy as Facilitators of the full Bodhisattva Peace Training.
Immersion Retreats I through VIII comprise the foundation of the more intensive curriculum of the Bodhisattva Peace Training Institute for those aspiring to qualify as Certified Facilitators of the Bodhisattva Peace Training, so that they may bring the principles and practices of bodhicitta to a broad diversity of participants from a wide range of community, professional, service, and activist networks.
Participants in both programs will need to attend Immersion Retreats in order, as the Immersion Retreat curriculum is sequential and progressive. To learn more about the programs for certification of Bodhisattva Peace Training Facilitators and Facilitators of Peace Leadership, please contact: bpti@ironknot.org.
