November 9th marks Lha Bab Düchen, the anniversary of Buddha Shakyamuni’s decent from the heavens. Buddha’s mother had been reborn in Indra’s heaven where he taught for three months in order to repay her kindness and benefit the gods.
Due to the power of the Buddha’s blessing, all virtue and nonvirtue is multiplied 10 million times during this day. Through virtuous practice and activity on such a sacred day, we can powerfully enhance our capacity to deepen our practice and to benefit others in the short and long term.
In observance of this auspicious occasion, we will offer tsog in the context of the Tendrel Nyesel, a terma of Terton Sogyal. The profound practice of Tendrel Nyesel can help reverse inauspicious interdependence, dissipate inauspicious occurrences and establish auspicious interdependence in our efforts to practice dharma and benefit others.
If you’re unable to join us in person, you may participate by sending offerings for tsog, butterlamps or saving lives as we commemorate this special occasion. (If you’d like to make a contribution to our brine shrimp saving-lives ceremony, please contact us by October 26th.) Please email events@ironknot.org with the details and your offering and dedication, so we can be sure to include it during our practice sessions.
Whether or not you’re able to join us for practice at Iron Knot Ranch, please join with us, and sangha throughout the world, through whatever virtuous practice and activity you’re able to undertake, dedicated to the short and long term benefit of all beings.
